Sean Godsell is the brain behind this mass-produced shipping container, which is very similar to a shack! The fact that is quite small, has a very basic interior and doesn’t really have anything much to it, is exactly why it is perfect for it’s main purpose as emergency and relief housing. It can also be extremely beneficial as temporary housing, third world housing or remote housing. Although the standard design does not come with a bathroom and kitchen, it has the capacity for these to be built in to the container depending on the specific needs of the situation. There is a roof thatched above the container, which provides shade to the container and also a block from the direct sunlight. They are also equipped with thermal insulation, therefore suitable to any climate. The containers are completely self-contained with water tanks, solar power cells, a ladder to access the roof and an access ramp to the container from the ground. Obviously, they can be packed back in to themselves and relocated by simply stacking them and sending them on their way via truck / boat or train!
